The 2027 Dakar Mission
Mason Klein #98 is returning to the Dakar Rally in 2027. After five Dakar appearances, a Rally2 / W2RC World Championship, and a 14th overall finish in the premier RallyGP class at the 2026 Dakar Rally, Mason is focused on his most ambitious Dakar campaign yet — competing at the highest level of international rally-raid as a privateer under Klein Offroad Racing.
The 2027 Dakar Rally will once again be held in Saudi Arabia, covering thousands of kilometers of desert, dunes, rocky terrain, and technical off-road stages over two weeks of racing. It is the most demanding motorsport event in the world, and Mason Klein #98 will be on the start line.
Mason Klein #98
Mason Klein is a professional American rally motorcycle racer from California. He is a Rally2 / W2RC World Champion, 2022 Dakar Top Rookie, 2023 Sertões Rally overall winner, and five-time Dakar Rally competitor. Racing under number #98, Mason has built his career from American desert racing into the top tier of international rally-raid competition.
Klein Offroad Racing
Klein Offroad Racing (KORR) is the privateer family racing program that supports Mason's Dakar Rally campaigns and international rally-raid efforts. Competing as a privateer at Dakar means building and funding a complete race program independently — without the resources of a factory team. KORR operates with professionalism, passion, and a relentless commitment to competing at the highest level.

The Motorcycle
Competing at the Dakar Rally requires a purpose-built rally motorcycle capable of covering hundreds of kilometers per day across the most demanding terrain on earth. Mason has raced KTM, Kove, Honda, and other competitive rally platforms throughout his career. Motorcycle selection, preparation, and reliability are critical factors in any Dakar campaign, and the KORR team approaches this with the same professionalism as any factory program.
Training and Preparation
Preparing for the Dakar Rally is a year-round commitment. Mason's preparation for Dakar 2027 covers physical conditioning for the demands of two weeks of full-throttle desert racing, technical riding training across varied terrain, rally navigation training using roadbooks and GPS systems, and competitive racing to maintain race fitness and pace. The physical and mental demands of Dakar are unlike any other motorsport event — preparation is everything.
Dakar Rally Navigation
One of the defining challenges of the Dakar Rally is navigation. Unlike circuit racing, Dakar riders must navigate using a roadbook — a printed scroll of route instructions — combined with GPS and compass, often at speed across unmarked desert terrain. Navigation errors can cost minutes or end a race entirely. Mastering rally navigation is one of the most demanding skills in motorsport, and it is a core part of Mason's preparation for Dakar 2027.
